MARATHON, 21st Century or Dancing for a Dream
An adaptation of Ricardo Monti’s play "Marathon"

Synopsis:

This play is about the search for a connection between reality and all the events that followed 9/11/2001 worldwide.

Dance, music and theatre will come together not just for the audience’s entertainment, but to open a door that will lead to reflection on the occurring changes and injustice.

Injustice is the play’s main subject. Marathon was premiered in 1980 in Altos de San Telmo Theatre during Argentina’s military dictatorship with such success that it was further performed in National theatres such as Colón and Cervantes.

In this adaptation, the dramatic arc of the play will be respected but its myths will change in accordance to the changes that preceded September 11th event:

• International crisis
• Banking crisis
• Demonstrations and protests by outraged people (demonstrations with Guy Fawkes masks)
•Manipulation of the media
• WikiLeaks

During 1930’s economic crisis, dance contests became very popular. People danced to music for an extended period of time. The prize was not for the best dancers but for those who lasted the longest (days, weeks, months).

In the case of "Marathon", the prize is secret. In my adaptation and staging of the play, the action takes place either at present or in the future but without taking away the play’s oneiric atmosphere.

Two other productions we are currently working on are "The Caretaker" by Harold Pinter and the comedy "Beyond Therapy" by Christopher Durang.

DRAMA TEACHER / ACTING - COACHING

We are currently working on an International multilingual Theatre and Drama School project based on "Learning by Doing". We are looking for a city or area with an interest in a cultural project of this kind.

Courses are currently available in Ulm and Ravensburg, Germany

The acting methods used are: Actors Studio, Lee Strasberg (USA), Stanislavsky, Augusto Boal and Michael Chejov

Acting Courses, workshops, Theatre companies, Drama School courses are available for beginners to advanced actors with no limit of age.
